A native of South Carolina, Amy grew up in Hampton where she was Valedictorian of the Wade Hampton High School Class of 1985.
Enrolling in the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate studies, Amy obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and graduated magna cum laude in May 1988. During her undergraduate years, Amy maintained a 3.858 G.P.A. and was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society and Chi Omega Sorority.
Amy received her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in May 1991, graduating in the top ten percent of her class. While in law school Amy was the Roy Webster Scholarship Recipient, Strom Thurmond Scholarship Recipient; member of the Order of the Coif, Order of Wig and Robe, Moot Court Student Bar Association and Academic Standing Committee. Amy was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1991 and the S.C. District Court Bar in 1994.
A seasoned litigation attorney with emphasis on medical malpractice, automobile accidents, pharmaceutical liability, nursing home abuse and other personal injury cases. Additionally, Amy has managed asbestos litigation cases including asbestos property damage, asbestos personal injury cases, and asbestos bankruptcy claims for both individuals and major companies; and is also experienced in managing environmental litigation and soil and groundwater contamination cases; handling construction cases, managing large class action contamination cases and large class actions involving both human and animal drugs.
Amy has practiced law in many states, both in their state and federal courts as well as in Puerto Rico and served as Special Assistant Attorney General for State of North Dakota and Special Assistant Attorney General for State of Georgia.
Amy is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, Richland County Bar, International Who's Who of Professionals and served as Legal Advisor to the Arnold Fields Endowment Fund Board of Directors from 2002 until 2004.
An active member of her community Amy attends New Heights Baptist Church and has served in the Allendale-Hampton Baptist Association, the Varnville Baptist Church, the Hampton County Gamecock Club, the Beta Sigma Phi Community Sorority and was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church Softball Team. |
